Hello

I’m Zach,
Your Guide

I was born among the willow and shortleaf pine on the East Coast, where early wanderings in nature sparked a lifelong awe for the wild.

From a young age, I felt a deep longing for a more connected world, which propelled me to explore theology, history, and education across diverse landscapes. Despite modest beginnings, mentors and a resilient spirit guided me to travel through West Africa, the Middle East, Asia, Europe, and South America, where the wisdom of indigenous cultures profoundly shaped my philosophy. From a young age, I felt a deep concern for the state of the world—a longing for the village, for the rich texture and connection that I sensed our ancestors knew.

After college, I immersed myself in teaching in Memphis, where city students taught me as much as I guided them, especially when we ventured into nature together. My journey led me to the West Coast, where I studied at Stanford and became a school leader in San Francisco. It was a rich chapter in my life, but I saw the system's limitations and realized that our deeper issues stem from a separation—from each other, our nature, and the Earth. This realization called me back to the mountains, deserts, and jungles, where the Earth speaks in ancient tongues, and where true healing and connection can begin.

My path has been shaped by indigenous wisdom, particularly from the Ashaninka of the Peruvian Amazon, with whom I’ve studied deeply. Through the teachings of the Dogon, Dagora, Tz’utujil, and the mythologies and folklore of the world, shared around fires, I’ve been guided back to my own roots, discovering that the study of indigenous cultures often reveals the indigenosity within ourselves. Through vigils, fasting, silence, study and immersion in these traditions, I’m learning to honor the mystery that connects us all.

Now, my work blends these experiences, rooted in soul maturation and eco-centric adulthood, informed by thinkers like Bill Plotkin, Malidoma Patrice Somé, Martín Prechtel. Together, we explore not just the mind, but the heart and soul, fostering a holistic, earth-connected form of learning that prepares us to lead with wisdom in a world that desperately needs it.

My Approach

In guiding individuals toward a deeper understanding of themselves and their place in the world, my approach is rooted in four key principles: fostering firm yet compassionate guidance, nurturing healing and wholeness, evoking a mature vision for the future, and igniting curiosity. These principles cultivate a profound sense of self-awareness, purpose, and connection to the world around us, empowering individuals to lead lives of integrity and depth.

Firmth

I blend "firmness" and "warmth" to create a supportive space where individuals feel safe to push their boundaries. This balance fosters resilience and confidence, empowering them to face life's challenges head-on.

healing-centered

Recognizing the diverse life experiences people bring, I emphasize healing. This approach helps participants move beyond blockages and focus on growth, with empathy, patience, and understanding as key tools.

Provoke Vision

I inspire individuals to envision their path and challenge them to overcome barriers that hinder their potential. This approach nurtures a deeper connection with their wiser future selves, empowering them to stride confidently toward their dreams.

Whole-Person

Personal development is multifaceted. I equally emphasize nurturing emotional, social, and ethical growth, guiding individuals to become well-rounded beings ready to contribute meaningfully to their communities.
